GAMEPLAY
In Zombie Highway the player controls a car and must try to survive as long as possible while zombies are jumping onto the sides of the car. The zombies have their own health bars which can be depleted by shooting them. If there are enough zombies on the car it will topple over and the game will end. There are crashed cars on the road that the player must avoid, which if hit ends the game. Zombies in Zombie Highway will pounce on your car’s side rails as you speed past them, doing all they can to bring the car to a stop– generally by using their superhuman undead strength to wrestle it till the car crashes. There are 7 types of zombies all up, from the skinny fledgling variety, to the stronger, health-regenerating, weightier monsters that do a world of hurt to your center of balance.
Each zombie on your car has a health meter that can be drained away either by bashing into the burned-out cars that litter the road or by shooting them. You’ll have to be quick about it, though, because the zombies will heave your car left and right, or flip it over entirely.
OVERVIEW
The controls are easy and simple. Tilt your phone to control your car, and tap the screen to shoot your guns. Everything feels just as it should. The list of unlockable weapons is pretty standard; they range from low to high firepower, and sport varying clip sizes and reload times.
Also, while there’s no music in the game, the sound effects are blunt and terrifically effective. You’ll know it when a zombie attaches to your car or when you fire off a round of ammo. Although there's lack of real sound effects in he game. Your car is effectively muted until it’s being weighed down, and then the creaks it makes are whisper quiet. Not hearing the engine at all detracts from the experience dramatically. In fact, the only sound you’ll really hear from the car are the squeaks of your tires as you slide around the road.
The rapid-paced gameplay and excellent control system make ZOMBIE HIGHWAY a super compelling game. There's not much to it -- you drive and knock zombies off your car -- but what's there is very well done. After you finally crash your car or get flipped onto your roof by the zombies, it's hard to resist saying, "Okay, one more try." All of which is to say that Zombie Highway is a great action game that features a lot of punch into a tiny package. it’s safe to say that you’ll have a bloody good time.
